Minas Basin Pulp and Power
While the major upheaval of the US financial institutions sent
shockwaves through the global economy in 2009, the CEO
of one of Nova Scotia’s oldest companies was starting to see
the light of day from his previous business efforts. For more
than a year, their CEO (Scott Travers), of Minas Basin Pulp
and Power, had been steering the Hantsport paperboard
manufacturer through a perfect storm of rising input costs.
Not only were energy prices surging, but the world price of
old corrugated cardboard (OCC), the material Minas Basin
